To create this scarf I began with washing, mordanting and dying the fabric a base color. Next, for the first layer of pattern, I dyed the rayon first with oak galls and then with madder root, incorporating a clamp-resist (shibori) technique. Then I used hand block printing to add another layer of surface design and, after drying for three or four days, I set, machine hemmed and pressed to finish.
