Understated modern design. Hand dyed and hand stitched.

To create this runner I begin with washing, mordanting and dying the fabric a base color. Next, for the first layer of pattern, the linen is dyed with black walnuts (I gather these by hand in the fall), incorporating a clamp-resist (shibori) technique. When the fabric is dry, I add hand stitching for another layer of surface design. To finish, the hem is stitched by machine and pressed to finish.
